Common questions
How do I cancel my subscription?
In the Google Play app: tap your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Thrift Map → Cancel subscription. The app's Settings screen has a shortcut to the same place.
To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before your free trial ends. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
I was charged after the free trial. Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Google Play, not by us — we never receive your payment details and cannot issue refunds ourselves. Request one at play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory, or through Google Play Help. If Google declines and you think there has been a genuine mistake, email us and we will do what we can to help.
I subscribed but the app still shows the paywall.
Open Settings → Restore purchase. This re-reads your subscription from Google Play. Make sure you are signed in to Google Play with the same account you subscribed with, and that the device is online.
A shop in the app is wrong, closed or missing.
Shop data comes from OpenStreetMap, a community-maintained map that anyone can edit — including you. We do not maintain the listings ourselves, so the fastest fix is to correct it at the source: create a free account at openstreetmap.org and edit the shop there. Your change will reach the app within a few days.
Because of this, please check opening hours before travelling. A listing being in the app is not a guarantee that the shop is open, or still there.
No shops appear at all.
- Zoom out or pan the map — some areas genuinely have no mapped secondhand shops.
- Check that the "All" filter is selected rather than a shop type with no results nearby.
- Check your internet connection; the map needs one.
- The public OpenStreetMap servers occasionally rate-limit or go down. If you see a "could not load stores" message, tap retry, or try again in a few minutes.
The map does not centre on me.
Location is optional and off until you allow it. Grant it in Android Settings → Apps → Thrift Map → Permissions → Location, then tap the locate button in the app. You can always search for a city by name instead.
Does the app track me?
No. There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and your location never leaves your device. See the Privacy Policy.
